Surviving a Break-up and Moving On

By BreakUpAdviceOnline.com Staff

Meeting someone and becoming more than just friends is one of the happiest moments in a person’s life. Sometimes, things don’t work out and the love that once existed is gone.

Breaking up is painful given the amount of time and effort exerted to make it work. This is also never easy regardless if this was a mutual decision or not. This will take time to heal before the person can let go and move on.

One of the first things that the person has to do is try not to see each other anymore. If there are frequent places that both go to, it will be a good idea to stay away from these places.

It is a force of habit doing the same routine even if both have decided to break up. This is because of the length of time spent together but this is necessary step to moving on. The person should keep busy with other things such as being with friends so as not to think about it.

Another good idea is to talk it out with those who can understand what the person is going through. Break ups happen even to the best people and having friends and family members who can empathize is part of the healing process.

It is hard to think when the person is involved in the situation. By asking those outside to see it from a different perspective, this will determine if breaking up was a good decision or not.

It is never healthy to bottle up things inside. Doing this will just make matters worse when the person suddenly explodes when it can’t be contained anymore. An individual can do this by crying.

Some people think that only women do this but men have a different way of letting it out. In the end, a breakup tears the hearts of two people and everyone has a different way of expressing sadness and sorrow.

In the period of time that the couple was together, there are a lot of souvenirs that were kept. This could be photos, receipts and love letters among other things. Part of the healing process is getting all of these and putting it away. This will help the person forget about it and learn to move on.

The initial thought after ending the relationship is usually trying to get back with the ex. There are many reasons why two lovers break up. If from the very beginning, there are irreconcilable differences, there is no point of getting back together again.

These differences should be used in the person’s favor. By focusing on it, the individual will realize that it is a good thing that the relationship ended and there is someone else out there who deserves what the individual has to offer.

There were times that the person felt hurt. Moments like these can really make the individual wonder if this partner is worth it or not. If this happened often, this can also be used a lesson for the future. This will become a criteria or a standard that will make the person feel stronger and wiser in choosing the right individual who is worth giving that love to.

Not seeing each other also includes no communication in the form of phone calls, letters or text messaging. This might be difficult but the person has to be consistent in learning to cope with a breakup before moving on.

A break up is the greatest fear of anyone who is involved in a relationship. This is something that both try not to think about by exerting effort in it and hoping that it all works out.

It may take months or even years before the person can totally admit that the other individual is finally gone and that it is time to move on. By trying new activities and meeting new friends, this can help take away the loneliness and prevent the mistake of getting back together again.

A relationship works by learning to grow with each other. During this time, both will see the good and the bad of the other person. If after a while, there are no signs of improvement, then perhaps breaking up and learning to move on is the best option.
