The Rebound Relationship: Is it Real or Just an Act?

By BreakUpAdviceOnline.com Staff

Everybody gets into a relationship. This may happen at a very young age and people will define that as simply puppy love. This perception is very different when the person is in it and only that individual can tell if this is a serious one or not.

Those who have been in a relationship for a long time take it seriously. Sometimes, the topic about settling down gets into the conversation. The partner may not agree or isn’t ready yet and there are some feeling of doubt.

When the relationship suddenly takes a dive and slowly, happy moments of laughing have turned into shouting matches, it is nearing the end. This may be an amicable agreement or a strong conviction by an individual that it’s over.

Moving on may be difficult since it takes time to forget the old habits and start over again. Some people think that jumping into a new relationship is the right way to do it. Those who are lucky may find something missing in the old one but must often than not, this is mistaken for something else which is simply called a rebound relationship.

People need love but there are many different degrees of it around. Some individuals like the idea of having a lover for the sake of having one but the other person sees differently and thinks about something long term at once.

The person who thinks that way is trying to correct a mistake in the past with a past lover. This feeling may not be noticeable at first but it will come out. The important thing for anyone in that situation is to recover emotionally to be able to move on successfully in life.

Is it safe then to get involved with someone who has recently broken up? The answer is no. This is because that person merely needs a friend who can take all the pain and sadness away.

Since there is a certain part missing in that individual, the same amount of love that a person is willing to give may not be returned in kind. This can only happen when the wounds of the past have healed and one is ready to get on the saddle again.

A rebound relationship most of the time may give the person temporary satisfaction. This will backfire since certain things in the previous relationship can come back and it could drastically affect the new one.

People who want to get involved into a new relationship should spend time soul searching. By figuring out the current state of mind the person is in and the objectives of the new relationship, this will determine if the individual is ready to get in the saddle again.

Rebound relationships don’t only happen to couples who are not married yet. This also happens to those who have been married and are divorced or have become widows.

People like these also need someone to love or hold on to. Just like unmarried folks, these individuals also have the challenging task of thinking about it first before going any further.

Being with a person and loving isn’t a game. People invest emotion, time and effort to make it work. The true test will be when hardships happen and how those in the relationship cope with it.

Losing someone special is not the end of the world. Life can still go on. The person should just learn to let go. It also means that if ever somebody new comes along, this should be handled slowly and delicately.

Jumping the gun doesn’t do anybody any good. By being honest and open with this new person, this can layout everything on the table and for that individual to understand the current situation.

Not all rebound relationships end in tragedy. There are those who have overcome it and are now happily together with someone new. This adventure really depends on the people involved in it who will dictate the direction where this will go.

There are reasons sometimes that bad things happen. By learning to move on and embracing life for what it offers, the person can find happiness once again when it all came crashing down.
