Can Anything Be Expected From Dating A Narcissistic?
By BreakUpAdviceOnline.com Staff
Everyone needs someone special. The person can meet this special individual anywhere like at work or in the park. By spending time together, only time can tell if it can go any further.
Each of these individuals is different. Some could be over-compulsive. Others could be very possessive. The ideal lover for the person is unique. These wants and needs have to be addressed in order for one to be happy.
The question then is, can this happen even if the person one is interested or dating is a narcissistic? The answer to this question is no. This is because that individual doesn’t want to be loved but idolized without giving anything in return.
A narcissist is defined as someone who loves oneself a lot. This person will engage in things for personal enjoyment and satisfaction without showing any concern for others.
Can effort change the person’s way of thinking and become capable of loving others? The answer is also no. The only thing that these people can do to those who want to venture into this is offer a temporary satisfaction. Eventually those who are involved will realize this isn’t love at all but merely a fantasy that will never work from the very beginning.
Should the person have problems and want to talk it out with someone, the individual must realize that this is not in the job description of a narcissist. This is because people who are like that are not capable of showing empathy. Serious discussions will just be ignored and laughed at making the victim appear like a fool.
This can also be shown in sex. These people can go into bed with someone but are just going through the motion and not giving anything in return. Once it is finished, the person can just leave while those who are emotionally involved will still want to cuddle and cherish that moment some more.
Some people say that being a narcissist is not a disorder. Rather it is a gift. These people can do things just like regular folks and show no remorse after it is done.
Women and men who are narcissist treat the opposite sex quite differently. For males, women are considered to be a potential threat to the well being of the person. Since this should never be revealed, men put up a good front by being insensitive to the needs of the woman.
Men do this through verbal abuse and this is pounded day after the day. Women who act as hopeless romantics will continue to push on hoping that things will change. This usually goes to the point that the female has given everything and in the end loses it.
The female after reaching the breaking point will likely want to leave the guy. The man upon seeing this will do everything to win the girl back. When the male succeeds, things will go back to the way it was and the whole cycle repeats itself.
Men who are classified as narcissist want power, money, aggression, intellect and social status. These individuals will do anything to reach it no matter how many women are victimized along the way.
Women are a bit different. Instead of using the things males use to get ahead, these individuals will rely on what is available. That is the body, the looks, sexuality, feminine traits and even children.
The difference between men and women is the females can admit this problem to others and seek proper help. Males are too proud and will not seek the assistance of anyone to treat this problem.
This makes it more common to find men who are narcissistic compared to women. These people can get married and have children. But it doesn’t change what is really inside and this will still come out during marriage.
Nothing can happen with a partner who is a narcissist and since these traits are normally not seen in the first few dates, the person must always be on the alert as time goes by.
Given the predicament, it is really important to take it slow when meeting someone new for the first time. This will save time and effort in giving a part of the individual to the right one who comes along.
