Should Gifts Be Returned After A Breakup?

By BreakUpAdviceOnline.com Staff

People who finally decide to call it quits do more than just cut all forms of communication with the former lover. There are those who decide to put everything in a box and move on with life. Some pile everything up and burn it while there are also people who prefer to return all the gifts that were ever given.

Is it perfectly alright to return these items? The answer to this question is no. This is because the person will turn out to be a sore loser and sort of regretted that a relationship ever took place.

It takes two people to make a relationship. Both decided to fall in love and make the most of it. There is no one to blame for the success and the failure of the relationship except for the couple.

In addition, the former lover once shared a part in the person’s life and the gifts will serve as memories that the individual can smile and look back on years later.

The act of returning is not out of logical thinking but rather of rage. If the couple was living together this becomes a different story. It is only proper that the person come back and pick up the stuff and move out for good.

Those who are broken up about the relationship should take it slow and talk to friends and family who can provide comfort until the pain subsides. This may take weeks or even months but afterwards, when the person is ready to move on, everything about the former lover can finally be hidden away.

In the mean time, the person should keep busy doing other things. Any pictures, stuffed animals and other gifts given by the former partner should be placed in a box so the individual will not think about the ex that often.

A breakup is not the end of the world as some people might think. The person is experiencing the initial pain brought by the situation which is why classes that promote self improvement should be taken.

This can help person assess what goals or accomplishments can be done in the future. This doesn’t mean immediately seeking for a new lover but the individual should just embrace the other things that life has to offer.

People who still believe it can work out can try to get back together. This can be done by resolving the issues. By keeping in mind the past mistakes and making it work the second time around, there is a chance that the couple will be stronger than ever.

The secret to a successful relationship is communication. As long as the people involved decide to face the challenges together, there is a very good chance that the two will live happily together after in the end.

People who realize that the relationship is finally over even if there have been attempts to get back together should perhaps look at all the all letters and gifts one last time. After crying about it and letting all the feelings out, this is the time the person will realize to put the ex away for good and let go.

The individual can recycle an old box at home or buy a new one at the bookstore. This should accommodate everything that the couple had together for the months and years spent together.

When the room has been cleared of every trace of the former lover, the box can be sealed then hidden away in the room or in the attic for safe keeping.

Everyone needs someone to love. The way that people look at a relationship from beginning to end regardless of the gender is unique to every individual. People who face a breakup and the effects after it should try to be strong.

The mistakes learned can make the person more careful about life. The happy moments will let the individual look back into the past and have expectations about the future.

Those who have been in relationships know the ups and downs. The first time that two people breakup may not be the first and the last time it will happen to the individual. New partners will come along and new gifts will be given and memories will be shared.
