Ex Just Called, What Happens Next?

Some people perceive a breakup as the end of the world. That life itself has no meaning anymore. These are usually the short term impacts of the tragedy and this is the time to stand up again and move on.

The person may cry and mourn for the loss. Those around such as family members and friends can give words of comfort. But by looking deep inside, this situation can make the individual stronger and better than ever before.

Healing takes time. This may take weeks or even months and then when life begins to normalize, the strangest thing happens. The ex lover just called. What does this mean? Is this a sign that the two should get back together?

After putting the phone down, these questions will enter the person’s mind over and over again. Everything will be much easier if only the ex stated the intentions of the phone call and then the individual can work from there.

Unfortunately, things don’t happen that way and a lot of what If’s come into play.

· If the phone call was merely to check how things are, then that person should not expect anything and just accept it as a friendly conversation.

· If the ex asks permission to call again or do it once in awhile, this could also mean something but then again could also mean nothing.

· If the relationship began with these two individuals as friends, maybe this gesture is just a way of bringing it to the former level.

· If the purpose of the phone call is that the ex wants to get back together again; the answer should not be given immediately. It is advisable to give this some thought and then make one of the most difficult decisions in the person’s life.

Those who are undecided can ask friends and family for help. Questions such as whether there is still hope and if this is worth giving a second chance must be answered. Though the decision will fall upon the person, the advice that these people give may push the individual in the right direction on what to do next.

If the person decides to give it another go, this should be taken slowly. This doesn’t mean that the two are together again but the individual is keeping an open mind based on the efforts shown by the ex.

The reasons that two people breakup are never the same. These issues have to be addressed. The person can start with conversations first on the phone before thinking of going out with the individual again.

When the person is ready to go out again, the ex should be observed. Have the issues that were discussed on the phone being implemented? Are there improvements?

This should be monitored for a period of time to see if the person is serious about getting back together or not.

The telephone is one of the greatest inventions and has provided communication for those who are near and far. The computer age has made another innovation which is the cellphone. People no longer have to dial to talk to the person on the other line but merely send a message via SMS.

When the person gets a message from a former lover after a long time, the person should not show any emotion. The call should be taken just like any other and any feeling must not be shown until the call has ended.

The only way to find out the purpose of the call so as not to waste any time is to be blunt. This may appear that the person is angry for the breakup but is probably the most effective way to put the cards on the table.

Those who strongly believe it is over should just simply state it in the conversation. This will stop any hopes of the ex of getting back together again. The next best thing that can happen will be for the former lovers to just end up being friends.

A phone call may only last a few minutes but this can change everything between the person and the former lover. The individual can end it there or see what the future can bring.
