Having a Clingy Ex Around

By BreakUpAdviceOnline.com Staff

People who have been in love will always remember the good time more than the bad moments. This will take the individual to a time of peace and happiness which will be cherished forever.

When things go astray, this is torn but a lot of fighting and the love that once existed is slowly fading until it is too late. Deciding when and how to deliver a breakup isn’t easy. The other partner may not even see it coming but it is better to have it planned than saying it impromptu.

The one who will receive the message may not take it well. There are those who do and this should be discussed and explained clearly so that the recipient may receive it and hopefully respect the decision.

Those who refuse to accept it will fight for it. This will continue in the succeeding days after the breakup is announced and should it happen, it is time now to put the foot down and avoid the individual.

This can be done by rejecting calls made at home and in the cellphone. Should the former lover come over the house, word must be left with the other members in the house that the person is not there.

If both people are in the same school or work in the same company, friends and officemates can shield the individual from the former lover which is a good sign to allow the person to give some space.

Former places that both regularly frequent hang out should also be avoided. This will prevent running into the former lover and even creating a scene.

It is hard for a former lover to accept the reality that the dream is over. It will be painful and hard to put up this stance but it has to be done. It is not only for the person but also for the ex.

By being firm with the decision and the help of family and friends, it will pass. The ex will finally get it and at the same time also move on.

Should the ex claim to understand but still cling to the person, then this is getting really dangerous already. Perhaps it is time to seek the help of the authorities for a restraining order. This doesn’t happen often but desperate times may call for extreme measures.

The ex can give the space. During this time, it is possible that the former lover will do some soul searching and try to change. This is done to show the person to give a second chance.

When people once loved someone and it is gone, the ex should understand that it could be gone for good. There is no way to get it back. This should be stated clearly to the ex and perhaps save those improvements for someone better to come along.

After some time, it will be wonderful to be friends again. The love made of passion could be replaced with something that is merely platonic. This is truly better than losing both a partner and a friendship.

During this difficult time, the person should try new things and be busy in order not to think about the ex and learn to let go.

The individual can check if out new activities or sports that the person always wanted to try. This can be done with friends so that it will be a fun and exhilarating experience for everyone.

If the person is still in school, maybe use that free time to studying. Being an employee, the individual can keep busy and hopefully all this hard work will pay off with a promotion.

The person can also meet new people and have new friends. Sometimes, a change in scenery is good to start over again.

Mourning a loss will take time and the person should take it one day at a time. When the individual is ready to commit to someone new, it will just happen.

This will mean the person has let go of a former love and is ready perhaps to get backing in the saddle again with someone new. Love has its ups and downs. The clingy ex is just a phase in the chapter of the individual’s life.
